Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
I really struggle with being faithful to God. SO many times I lose my vision as a child of God and it is simply because I haven’t been faithful to spending time with my Lord and Savior. If you are reading this I am praying that you find encouragement from this post if you find yourself losing your vision. I definitely do not always follow God’s precious word as I should, but I am always going to be HIS work in progress until I reach eternity. I do not always obey my husband, and I am not always as discreet as I should be. I gossip and I make a lot of mistakes, and I am most certainly not always where I should be with the Lord at all times, but He is faithful to pick me up and wipe the tears away when I’ve failed him and asked Him to forgive me. I have recently been thinking about how easy it is to lose your vision as a Christian woman. I know that not only as a Christian woman, but as a wife and mother too it can be easy to forget to look up and draw strength from God instead of myself. So often I tend to look around at all the “things” that need to be done, and I slowly lose my joy and vision by focusing on the problem at hand. After seeing all the things that need to be done I forget to simply pray and thank God for the day he has laid before me once more. Every day we wake up is nothing short of a miracle. God did not have to wake you or I up today and we should be so thankful that he gave us another day to serve Him. I of course am not speaking of my physical vision, but my spiritual vision. I forget what my purpose and goal is to do in life and that is serving the LORD. Here is how you can prevent vision loss in your Christian life as a woman of God. Also, you can always start NOW and get back on track with the Lord. HIS arms are always open for you.
Spend time in prayer and study God’s word.
How can we expect to grow close to God if we do not talk to Him and read His word? Prayer is the most powerful tool we have as Christians and the most neglected tool we have. Reading God’s word keeps us growing in wisdom and knowledge, and we learn more about our creator when we spend time with Him. I struggle with faithful bible reading time during the day, and I miss out on so much when I don’t spend time with God. He has done so much for us and has written a 66 book love letter to you and I so lets read His word. If you would like to know more about why I only read the King James Bible please click here.
Remember the goal and keep pressing on.
Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Our goal as women of God should be to grow closer to God daily, to love others, and to always follow his commandments and instructions. If you are a wife and mother keep serving your family and taking charge of your home. If you’re a single woman keep serving God and praying He will send a godly man your way. If you are a widow or divorced keep serving God and loving others. No matter what part of life you find yourself in you can still serve God. You are never too far gone for God to use you or even save you if you’ve never been saved. We as women have a very specific purpose laid out in God’s word and I encourage you to read all verses dealing with women in your personal bible study time. If you have had your feet knocked out from under you God will pick you back up and adjust your sails so you can keep going. All you have to do is be willing to get up and get back on track. It is so hard sometimes to be a godly woman in today’s world, because you have so many others screaming at you to conform to the world, but serving God is worth it. Every. Single. Time.
Live a holy life.
1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
God’s word tells us that we need to live holy lives free from sin and worldliness. Does that mean we will always be perfect? No. We will not reach perfection this side of eternity, but we most certainly should strive to live holy lives for Christ Jesus. When you look at the world they are screaming feminism, immodest dress, and living for self at you. A life in Christ is freedom and true lasting happiness. Living for Him is far better and more fulfilling than living for self and living up to the worlds standards. We read about the prodigal son who decides the world has something better to offer, but comes up empty after losing it all out there. He comes running back to his father just like we can run back to Christ and He will take us with arms wide open. Why leave God when what he has to offer is life everlasting and the world has nothing lasting to offer? Strive to be different from other women out there in the world. Be the woman who decides that she isn’t going to make herself known, but strives to make Christ known through her gentle spirit and love towards others. Be peculiar. Break the mold that the world is trying to fit you in.
Take a time out.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Life can get really stressful and sometimes we just need a good time out away from the stress. Take a walk. Go to a coffee shop and read your bible alone there in a corner booth. Go to the store and walk around. Whatever it takes to get you rejuvenated and ready to start again, do that activity. God wants us to rest in Him always and especially when we have lost our drive to push forward. It is as easy as taking a walk to talk to God, cry, or even work out your frustrations with HIM. It makes a world of difference when you just stop and stand still for a moment to get yourself together and remember your purpose as a daughter of Christ. We were never promised an easy life on earth, but we were given a wonderful opportunity from God to serve Him while we are here and He is always a blessing to His children
